Directing

Empowering playwrights throughout the writing and development process is my greatest passion.

I became a director by accident. After supporting more than 20 new play development processes as a producer, I pursued my first directing opportunities to gain tangible experience to better set emerging directors up with the tools necessary to support the needs of new play development. Coincidentally, I learned that all the things that I love about producing — talking to playwrights, advance organization and planning, building schedules, facilitating conversations, and asking dramaturgical questions — also made me thrive as a director.

I have now directed readings of Adult Children of Mandated Mothers Anonymous (Artemisia Theatre) and Hypergamater (Valdez Theatre Conference) by Marjorie Muller, along with workshops of Monstrous by Skye Hillgartner and of my own play, Our Kingdom of Blue, as “Capstone” projects during my literary assistantship at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
